چکیده

Kirkwood discovered in 1933, and Dirac 1945, a representation of quantum states that has undergone renaissance recently. The Kirkwood-Dirac (KD) distribution been employed to study nonclassicality across physics, from metrology chaos the foundations theory. KD is quasiprobability distribution, generalization probability which can behave nonclassically by having negative or nonreal elements. Negative elements signify information scrambling potential metrological advantages. Nonreal encode measurement disturbance thermodynamic nonclassicality. distributions' believed follow necessarily noncommutation operators. We show does not suffice. prove sufficient conditions for be nonclassical (equivalently, necessary it classical). also quantify achievable under various conditions. This work resolves long-standing questions about may used engineer

Nonclassicality and entanglement: observable conditions

A unified characterization of continuous-variable quantum states is presented that gives general insight in their nonclassical features and, in particular, in their entanglement properties. Nonclassicality is characterized in terms of observable characteristic functions. Equivalently, the nonclassicality conditions are reformulated in terms of moments. The latter approach turns out to be a powe...

A computable measure of nonclassicality for light

We propose the entanglement potential (EP) as a measure of nonclassicality for quantum states of a single-mode electromagnetic field. It is the amount of two-mode entanglement that can be generated from the field using linear optics, auxiliary classical states and ideal photodetectors. The EP detects nonclassicality, has a direct physical interpretation, and can be computed efficiently. These t...

Nonclassicality of Temporal Correlations.

The results of spacelike separated measurements are independent of distant measurement settings, a property one might call two-way no-signaling. In contrast, timelike separated measurements are only one-way no-signaling since the past is independent of the future but not vice versa. For this reason some temporal correlations that are formally identical to nonclassical spatial correlations can s...

[Generalists are needed more than ever].

15 If today you want to keep up with basic and clin‐ ical research, you need to concentrate on a very small field and reach tremendous depths in this very field. And, actually, life is too short to also accumulate the knowledge necessary to do mean‐ ingful scientific work even on closely related top‐ ics. Hence, specialization is inevitable not only in research; it was a prerequisite for the de...
